Mock exams are most useful when they reproduce the decisions you have to make in the real paper — which knowledge to recall, how much time to spend, how deeply to develop an answer, how to respond to that paper's structure. The problem is that once you have worked through the available past papers, fresh exam-style practice that still matches your syllabus gets hard to find.
NeuraGeek Mock Paper Generator is built for that gap. Inside a supported Cambridge subject, generate a new exam paper two ways: Full mock, using the syllabus as a whole, or Pick topics, focusing the paper on selected areas. The generator creates an original exam-style PDF with a mark scheme.
The screenshots in this guide use Cambridge International AS & A Level Business (9609). The exact papers and topics available depend on the subject you open.
Open the Mock Paper Generator inside your subject
Open the subject you want to practise and select the AI-generated mock option from the Practise section. This opens the Generate an exam paper screen.
The first choice is the mode — Full mock or Pick topics — then you select the paper number available for that subject.
Generate a full Cambridge-style mock paper
Choose Full mock when you want the paper to draw across the syllabus rather than restricting the questions to a small set of topics.
In the Business (9609) example, the interface offered Paper 1 through Paper 4. Paper 2 was selected and Generate full mock used. NeuraGeek then analyses reference material and builds the paper — generation can take a minute, and there is no need to refresh or leave the page while it works.
Once complete, the mock opens in the built-in PDF viewer. From there you can Download the paper to solve in print or upload back to the AI tutor for grading, or choose New Paper to generate another one.
The generated paper follows the selected paper format rather than giving a generic list of questions. In this example, the paper was labelled 9609/21, carried 60 marks and a time allowance of 1 hour 30 minutes, and used contextual data-response questions with answer space and mark allocations — the kind of written practice needed for that paper.
Use Pick topics when you want a more targeted mock
Full mocks are useful for broad exam rehearsal, but they are not always the best next step. If you already know which chapters are weak, choose Pick topics instead. The topic-selection view lets you choose syllabus areas before generating the paper.
In the Business walkthrough, 14 topics were selected and Paper 1 chosen — the button updates to show the paper will be generated from the selected topics.
The resulting PDF still follows the selected paper format. Here, the generated Business Paper 1 was labelled 9609/11, gave 45 minutes for 30 marks, and used multiple-choice questions — generated after the specific syllabus topics had been selected.
Use the generated mark scheme after you finish the paper
The mock PDF includes a mark scheme after the question paper, so the same generated file works for both the timed attempt and the review afterwards.
For objective questions, the mark scheme gives the correct option with an explanation. For longer structured questions, it breaks the marks down across the demands of the question — in the Paper 2 example, separating knowledge, application, analysis and evaluation where those assessment objectives apply.
Full mock or Pick topics: which mode should you use?
Use Full mock for broad paper practice — before an exam, after finishing a large part of the syllabus, or to test whether you can move between topics under one paper's structure. Use Pick topics for targeted improvement: select the chapters that repeatedly cost you marks, and generate a paper that makes you confront them again.
A useful progression: start with Pick topics while repairing weak areas, then move to a Full mock once you want to test whether that improvement holds up inside a wider paper.
A simple way to use the Mock Paper Generator for Cambridge revision
- Identify the purpose of the session. Decide whether you are testing the whole paper or repairing specific syllabus topics.
- Choose Full mock or Pick topics. If Pick topics, select the exact areas you want the new paper to focus on.
- Select the paper number that matches the type of exam practice you need for that subject.
- Generate the paper and complete it under proper conditions. For a true mock, use the time allowance shown and avoid checking the mark scheme until you finish.
- Review the mark scheme. Do not only count the final score — look at which question types, topics and assessment demands caused the lost marks.
- Generate another paper when necessary. Use New Paper for another attempt, or return to topic-focused practice if the review shows a clear weakness.
Why generate a mock paper instead of repeating the same past paper?
Past papers remain essential — they show what Cambridge has actually asked. But the supply is finite, and repeated exposure makes a familiar paper a less useful test of recall. A custom mock gives you additional exam-style practice while preserving real past papers for benchmarking and final preparation.
The strongest approach is not to replace past papers. Use generated mocks to create extra practice, target weak areas and rehearse paper structure, then use real Cambridge past papers to check whether those gains transfer to authentic questions.
